I knew a Captain in the army who just came off a tour in Alaska. Wherever he was at up there he said everyone was carrying a firearm as big bear and moose were no joke and not afraid to walk in the middle of town. So one night he's talking to a guy in a bar and he brings up that the Capt is not carrying anything for protection. Capt says "he's got a nice S&W model 19, .357 with 6 in barrel in his personal goods that he plans to carry once it arrives. Bar guy spits tobacco on the floor and tells him how important it is to make sure any sharp edges are knocked down off the sights or whatnot. This would typically be so it won't get hung in the leather when you draw it quickly. In this case the bar guy finishes the story by saying... "because IF you live, it will hurt less while they remove it, after the bear sticks that 357 up your @$$" .

I've got a client that struts into my office open carrying that must have got his shiny badge from the same gumball machine. I shake my head at those OC'ing when, as Wild Bill say, they lose all element of surprise. Always take the advantage. Always.

open carry is legal in PA too, don't see it too often but when I do I just laugh. I saw a guy in Sheetz the other day with his side holster, I told the cashier "that guy thinks its the wild west"

The argument over concealed vs. open carry is unending and mostly void of factual data to back up either opinion.
People are usually in one of three camps.

    1. Open carry is stupid and you lose the element of surprise. The bad guy will shoot you first.
    2. Open carry is a deterrent. The bad guy will find a softer target. It's much quicker to access your gun.
    3. People who don't care either way.

I fall into the 3rd camp. I don't care how you carry. I open carry, I carry concealed. I don't think either way is stupid. Each way has it's advantages and disadvantages. To me, either way is a situational choice.

Now people who go around with their CCW badges...That's another story! o_O

Lots of people think fast old cars, loud exhaust, and smoking up the tires is stupid. I like those too, call me stupid!

Just finished upgrades to my .22 Sig 229.
The first upgrade was finding a 9mm conversion kit for it. The various calibers use the same frame, so all I needed was the rail/barrel/mag kit to make it a 9mm.
I went to the local lgs to ask if they could give me a better price than the Sig store. While he was looking it up, I spotted this P229 'Diamond plate special' in the used case..... only $92 more than the upgrade kit so that was a deal too good to pass up. The DP version also has aluminum grips instead of the standard plastic. It's a cool gun that is now my favorite, great fit and feel.
So I guess that was the first 'upgrade'.

As a car guy, I felt the need for more upgrades. Both got a full disassembly, clean and lube. Added short reset kits to both and a stock 'fat' trigger to the 9mm to replace the skinny that pinched my finger.
The 22 (on left) got the srt kit, an Armory Craft straight trigger and Hogue G10 grips.
Apparently, I've caught the 'Signess'. I don't think there is a cure.

I have an interest in this but for the time being I cannot own or posses. Stupid really. Back in the day (80's) before my legal downfall I carried concealed. No permit, personal protection. It went with the territory / lifestyle I was living. If Im ever able to put that behind me I'll find something to carry.

As it's cold here in Seattle lately I just have it in my coat pocket. I'll have to see what happens in spring as I'm a shorts and tank top kind of guy.
It was only $599 for the Micro 9 and $579 for the Micro .380. Not bad in my book, I like Kimber products.....

Anyone else have concealed carry paranoia? I spend all my time yanking down my sweatshirt on my side. I drive to many different places for work all over my state of Mass. My company has rules on carrying firearms of course. Like I care about that. I often have to go to a hospital in Boston for night jobs and come out of there at 2 AM or so. You should see the shady characters I see around that place. Drug addicts are everywhere. You need to watch your ass for sure. I often carry a lot of equipment on a wheeler so I am vulnerable. I can hold my own against most but if they have a weapon that could be it. The hospital has a no gun sign on the door which I don’t think holds any water? Anyway if I were carrying you know who the bad guy would be. Anyway for now I stick with the pepper spray for that.

I'm a teacher so I can't carry(as of now) at work. My favorite is my Springfield Arms 1911 A1 stainless 45acp. I hate to clean the damned thing though. My turck always has my Rossi .38 in it. I keep it there because my wife can use it easily too. She keep an LCR38 in her purse. No hammer so it can't catch on anything.

Here ya go.....Mustang(Pocketlite model) is not a Micro9 but similar.......P3 is much slimmer and MUCH lighter.......put into service after 250 rounds of Speer Lawman .380 ball thru it...NO failures to fire and NO failures to eject......
