Don, Maybe, but what I really need are STRIPES. I can't wait to see the rest of them, and the emblems on the car. When I first started driving my Mom said she didn't care what car I brought home as long as it was either Green or had stripes. I haven't let her down yet. Duane
Adam, I knew someone would ask me that. I asked Nick that question once and he would not tell me. He makes his own mix and I don't believe it is water based like what you see out there. You will have to take that up with him. Duane
Looks like we have some trunk lid action starting. This is just the first phase on the trunk lid/sail panel. Later the double factory pin striping will be added and 2 stripes will continue from that up the tulip panel to the vinyl top trim on both sides of the wide White stripe. Then the chrome trim goes on as well as the GS trunk lock emblem, plus the Motion & Hurst Equipped emblems. Duane
That hood looks evil! The contrasting white really accentuates the hood grilles. Trunk paint = Zolatone?
Walt, Yeah the hood looks aggressive, with the chrome and the blacked out areas between the chrome fins. Don, The car came from the factory with the GS pin striping option, and is the early style with the stripes going up over the rear wheel well. If it was built a week or so later it would not have had the stripes over the rear wheels. Here are a few pics showing the original factory striping and the Special striping on the trunk lid. You can't hardly see how the stripes continue up the tulip panel in the pic. (That pic was taken when Nick first got the car home.) You can certainly see that the top of the car got cooked out in the sun. The Motion emblem on the trunk lid goes almost directly above the trunk lock emblem. When Jimmy got the car you could still see the rectangular glue mark where it had been, and it was one of the small emblems. (Not like the one on the dash pad.) Originally there were 2 holes drilled there for a dealer emblem, so the Motion emblem covered them up. You can see them and the white paint in the last pic. We are painting the car like it was when it was first found. Enjoy. Duane
Here are 2 pics of the trunk lid with the stripe and chrome trim on. It still needs the pin striping and the Motion & Hurst equipped emblems installed so it will look much better when finished. Alan Wander's NOS GS Trunk Chrome sure looks nice on there and I think Terry got me the quarter panel chromes. Thanks again Alan and Terry. Duane
The hood is on, and it looks like the fenders are all aligned now. The car sure has come a long way since May. Enjoy. Duane
The grille and headlight doors are now in, as well as the side marker lights and rear quarter emblems. The headlight buckets were a set of original used pieces I bought out of California over 20 years ago. The chrome was perfect, Nick just had to paint them. The rear side marker lights are a set of originals, that were restored by none other then "Eagle Eye" Tumas. He also repaired/restored the original grille that we put in the car. Thanks Dave. Duane
I have a bunch of huge boxes coming for " The Barn Find" The grille and marker lights were done years ago.
