When I got this house it "came" with alot of wood on the property. I have a wood burning stove but im not sure if this wood is good enough to burn inside. At the least i want to keep a small pile and give away the rest. If you know about wood and can identify what I got so I can clean my yard up. Its been outside i think for a year. Its rained up here about 7 good days since i been here for 6 months .
Ronnie, looks like a mixture of wood species, its all old and will burn fairly quick as it looks dry, in what part of the country do you live? it should all be good to use in the stove, looks like a lot of knotted stuff that won't split to easy, stick with the straight stuff and give away the other! have fun, you have plenty to do!
I got a lot to do. Thanks for your post. I live in southern California in a high altitude desert. Winters are in the 30's, summers are in the low 100's. Low humidity, strong dry heat.
You can burn it all inside just keep your chimney clean. I burn 25 to 30 cord a year of mixed wood to heat My home. It is -20f out side and 90f in My living room right now.
It also makes for some nice outside bonfires! I always enjoy them in fall/early winter. Nice way to enjoy the early evening. Just a small fire will do. I have a woodstove in my house too. Deposits can build up in the chimney which can ignite and cause a chimney fire. Get a chimney brush and clean it at least once a year. Soft resinous woods like pine will produce more deposits.
