I just scored this '63 LeSabre wagon off eBay. I think it oozes cool. It's had a recent repaint on a rust free car, some interior work, and some re-chroming. It has factory a/c and factory tilt wheel. Odo shows 89,000 miles. My plans are to refresh the engine and a/c system, add fuel injection, replace the slushbox with a 4-speed AOD, split the front seat and add power seat tracks, and change to different wheels and tires. The guy that does my work is backed up, so it won't happen right away. I'm really excited about getting it, and now the wait begins.

The seller stated it had a 394, but the specs I've found show that it should have a 401. Which is correct?

A 394 was an early 60s Olds engine.

Nice! Going to be a great cruiser with the overdrive. As Jim stated, 394 was an Oldsmobile.

Those will look great, hard to beat them or Cragars. They seem to look good on anything. I got to thinking about it while I was on lunch, and I bet the seller meant "364" as in a 364 Nailhead, which I believe is what an earlier car would have from the factory, but yours should be a 401 if I'm not mistaken..

Looks like an "honest" car; drive and enjoy after you personalize. The way it should be.....

It does have a 401. I was also looking at an Olds Dynamic 88 with a 394. I confused myself.

The car arrived today. Much too cold to try to clean it up. It's pretty much as the seller said it was, with a few minor things. I had planned all along to keep the original motor, just refresh it. Now I'm going to try to salvage the original a/c compressor and use it. Still will ditch the carb and go to fuel injection. And the more I research it, and the more that I learn how difficult it is to swap it out with something else, I'm leaning towards keeping the Dynaflow and sending it off to be rebuilt by someone who knows what they're doing. It appears to be a solid car, and the paint is good.

The wheels/tires that came on the car were much too small, and IMHO butt ugly. So I upgraded to a set of 17" American Racing Torq Thrusts. The tires are the same overall diameter as what came on the car stock.

Nice car.. I would paint the inner circle in the rims white, just like the roof..
