As an example, Chicago will have wind chill around -50 degrees F mid-week. Even down here our high temperature on Thursday is expected to barely squeak into the 40s.

Very windy and snowing like crazy here. Lots of school closings.
I let Buddy out this morning. He got just outside the garage door, peed and ran back in. It's hard to tell just how much snow we have because it's drifting so much. Bare spots in some places and deep in others. Staying in today unless the neighbor needs an extra plow driver.

"Sunny" SW Florida will be in the 50's most of this week. Not exactly the frozen tundra, but not what we normally expect. We received 3 1/8" of rain yesterday. This has at least temporarily ended our normal dry-season drought. If you are vacationing in Florida this week, you will have to console yourself that at least the wind chill won't be below zero.

GADS!!! Up at 0400hrs to witness the beginning of a white out. Its been steady for 4 hours with a FOURTY mile an hour straight line wind (plus gusts!) outa the east. The Lake is one block east of us so its raw lake effect snow, and about 10F ambient. Theres literally 4-5 foot drifts against the garage and house, yet the light weight snow hasnt barely dusted the cars. Theres a bare spot on the concrete here and there.

Yesterday there was about a one mile wide ice shelf on the lake. This wind is going to push it up on shore in sheets. Id like to go see it but we are on lockdown right now. Ive been forbidden to go play in the shop. EVERYTHING is closed here. Pat went shopping yesterday so as long as we have electric, gas, and internet, we'll survive! If the internet goes down, we'll die from boredom. LOL....
Yep; she's a doozy out there! ws

Maybe we should follow Lewis Black's idea : " Build a wall on the Northern Border ; Because that's where all the cold air comes from ."

We go back into the 60s next week. I think our daffodils will hold off blooming until that time.

Our daughter lives an hour north of Muskegon. She said she has never seen so many closings from a storm since moving to Michigan in '05. Hope everyone is safe and stays warm with this arctic blast that we will have here mid week.

Its scary over here on the West coast interior of British Columbia. We have had very little or no snow all winter in our region and have been averaging -2 degrees Celsius to a high of about 9 degrees Celsius. Its great for getting around, not shoveling and playing out side, BUT we are all wondering what is coming - lots of snow in Feb/March or buckets of rain later in April or on FIRE all late spring through fall!! Crazy weather patterns for sure

Just in from a 'date' with the snowblower. I did the drive to the house, the sidewalk to the shop and about 10' out in front of the shop. While there, by the shop, I replaced the 'shoes' on the snowblower.
