Hi I'm fairly new member here, more of a lurker as of late. I purchased a 73 Electra Limited for the 455 and was wondering if there was a demand for parts off this vehicle. The interior is awful but the body is very straight and complete with no obvious dents or filler. The car is originally from WA but has spent most of it's life in AZ. It has the usual AZ patina, I'm going to pull the front end off to make engine removal easier so I'll have fenders, core support etc off. I'm not really interested in cutting off quarters or pulling stuff out of the interior. When I get it up on the lift i will find out whats in the rear end. I'll be working on this periodically over the next month or so, so I'm not in any rush. I'd rather try to sell stuff here before I go the eBay route. The car is currently located in Mesa, AZ I'm too new here to post any pictures but I can send some if you PM me, I'll take some additional pics tomorrow as I'm taking off the front trim. Thanks, Kurt
why not just try to flip it without boning it out and cause the TriShield brand to lose another solid classic
Yeah, try to sell the car without the engine. Should get from 400 to even maybe a 1000. Its not a high demand car in my opinion to part out. What are your plans with the 455 ?
I'm going to build the 455 for my Skylark if it turns out to be ok. The car is a non running because it sat for a few years but the engine turned, and the oil looked ok so I figured I'd give it shot. The car was on Craiglist for about 2 or 3 months so I kinda figured there wasn't much interest in a non-running Electra with a ratty interior and top. That's why I posted here first, since I don't have a lot of experience with C body cars. I know difficult it can be finding Buick trim/body parts and figured I could recoup the cost of the car by selling off some parts and get some parts to people who need them here. I was going to take out the radiator, core support and other stuff to make the engine pull easier and to prevent accidental damage to otherwise good parts-figured I'd sell what I removed and other parts which were easy to get at. If someone wanted the car whole I could definitely do that as well.
It's a 71 Skylark custom, it's going to stay that way as I'm not into making a clone, just want some big block power and the satisfaction of building a engine for my ride. Th Electra is a 2 door limited. Have the title.
73 is a one year only parts . its also the ugliest as it was the first year of bumper shocks. looks like a fat lower lip. rear end is nice looking onlything i can think of is the front lower valence, rear light and front. those might sell. what type rear end does it have
I'm not going to get to the motor pull for another week or two. I need to go over the car more and see what condition it's in overall. I did notice some filler on the lower passenger side door, the other panels, bumpers,trunk/hood look ok. But I'm not a car body guy I need to see if there's anything else going on with it so I can let people know if I sell it as a roller. I also wanted to rack it to make sure it's solid underneath, I don't want anyone to waste their time coming to look at it if it's only good for parts.
Sold a few parts off a burned four door HT that was in a u pull it a few years ago. Got lucky and sold the left front fender and bumper to a guy in Midwest. And the license rear surround to guy in Europe. Yours is in better shape. And a two door. Not much else sold. DVAP wound up getting perfect RF fender. It wouldnt sell. Left hood on it. Id put the car whole on Houston, Detroit and Chicago craigslist. Good luck whatever you do.
No, it's missing the passenger side glass and there's a cheapo one on the driver side. I think they are both AutoZone specials.
I finally got the engine and trans out this weekend, the frame and floor pans looked ok. Didn't see anything bad underneath, there was a lot of dirt and oil from the leaking trans and engine. I didn't go over the car with a fine tooth comb as I had limited time on the lift and was more interested in removing the drivetrain. I did take some pics of the underside if anyone is interested. I'll be putting up for sale here on V8 Buick in the next day or so it can stay "in the family" if anybody wants it. I'll be asking $600 OBO.
