Ya, what ever happened to those rolling eyes guys? I favored the guy with the machine gun but that is a never again item,

I kinda got into this by osmosis. I spent too much time with Duane and by brother Rich.Rich did a concours resto on a 72 gs 350 that Duane was going to cut up in 1997. I thought all this factory correct stuff was for the birds back then .Then fast forward to 2009 when we find my GSX ,I figure it was the only way to restore that car. I have to say it was a lot of fun trying to figure out and reproduce what the factory did. I don't think rehab will help me

He would have to take his brother Ritchie. Maybe they could get a family rate.

    Mike,
What year engine book was that out of? I would need to dig my books out but I think the paint masks changed somewhere along the line.

1970 Engine book. I know that you should have 68, 69 & 70 at least since we did some horse trading a few years back.:D

As long as the facility has a garage they could keep us happy. No Nurse Rachet though.

    Mike,
I just found my binder. I have the 68-72, 75, and 78 engine books plus the 72 engine emission systems book.

The motor painting changed between the 69 and 70 model years. The 68-69 motors used a plug/cap to cover the dist hole, so the dist was not installed in the motor when it was painted. In 70 thru 72 the dist was installed before the motor was painted, and was covered by a plastic cup as talked about previously.

    Dave,
I have all kinds of factory info most people have never seen, like Quality Control books that the inspectors used on the assembly lines. I have used all this info from time to time to try to make sure what I'm telling people is correct. I even have some copies of info that Steve Dove used to write his books. Some of that is pretty cool.

He got a lot of his factory info because he had access to the "Cave". Years later Sloan got to save info from the cave, and we were able to get copies of it. I still have at least 2 large boxes of factory info I have not even gone thru yet.

You do have to be careful with some info in the Black and White books. Some of the part numbers reference the numbers on the boxes and not the numbers on the parts. Other then that they are great books.

I knew I had seen this picture and I finally found it again in the 70 repair manual. It is a good shot to see what was and wasn't on the engine when it was painted. I love the red paint on the fuel line. IMG_20190112_112531918.jpg

Unless it’s an AC car then tower is correct.

Could also be a working prototype. It would have to be very early to get in that book.
