It just so happens that She Who Must be Obeyed bought one of those before I sat down and built my own.
On the plus side - ready to go out of the box.
On the negative side - strobe is less intense. Only a variable delay setting. Mains power only.

Radio Shack still operates a web store and I'm sure there are other online sources. The parts list is pretty basic and the only tools required are wire snips, soldering iron and a drill.

I threw together a quick video of both units side by side for comparison. Clicked through the various flash sequences a couple of times on my home made unit. It's not going to be winning any awards.

My mouse body count this season is up to 12. All caught in snap traps. I have 10 active traps going at all times. Even caught a mole.

Since deploying the DFD (Disco Fever Defense) I have not caught a single mouse in the glue traps :)

I bought a couple of "Mouse blockers". Basically its a small black box that emits an ultrasonic noise every 15 minutes. Supposedly has the same power drain of an LCD clock. I last checked the cars a month ago and no traces of mice anywhere. And they were still working. You can barely hear the noise. Its almost out of your audible range . Sounds like a faint dentist drill.

I have one in my garage, not the same brand though. It has not helped. Cleaned out 3 in snap traps last week, none so far this week. Where the heck are they all coming from????? Worst year for mice that I have had yet. 90% have been caught in the upper storage section of my garage and its no more cluttered than the bottom section. This is in a garage that gets no foot traffic at all.

It makes me feel good that many of my NOS parts no longer have boxes but the mice had a nice home. The first picture is of the packaging on my 4 NOS 68 wheel well moldings and the second picture is of various boxes from other NOS parts. I just transferred everything to plastic bins that the top will snap on. UGGGG and its the start of mouse season again. Caught at least 15 last year in snap traps and I have at least 10 traps set at one time. This year more snap traps and D-con.

I Do nothing . As long as your anti-freeze is good.
You think the dealers prep cars for winter? I quit the sta-bil and fogging crap altogether years ago. You are going to fire it up in spring anyways, and add fresh fuel.
You need mouse proof storage though .

Disco garage ain't no place for mousy!

There is some ambient light from the phone camera that makes the flashing less intense and also explains why the side marker on the Electra looks like it's on. I had to go check that it was not!

I still put glue traps at all the entry points by doors that they can squeeze through but have not caught one since deploying the strobes.

As the days get shorter, damper and colder they are going to want to find someplace warm and dry to winter up. Time will tell if any are brave enough to venture into disco garage inferno!

Update on my strobe experiment, after 1 month, no mice found in any of the snap traps.......checked the traps today, one in the trap 5 feet from the operating strobe.
Strobes are not working for me....
Tomorrow I will be baiting 15 more snap traps like I always have done. uggg

I never used to do anything, but this spring I had to pull the rear seat and found half an acorn... So thie year I'll cover the tail pipes and put it on jack stands with dryer sheets all around them.

Also, I usually cover the rear of the car with wax and leave it on all winter with out buffing it off. That is the part of the car that is at the garage door and gets all the weather every day when we come and go through the garage. In the spring I simply buff it off. Once the wax is dry it doesn't matter how long it sits on the paint. Keeps the residual rain/snow/grit off the paint.

I also have the carbag and it came with the OmniDry stuff. That works but is kind of dusty.

I've used this the last two years and had no issues at all. The color change makes it easy to check up on and also see when it's done reactivating in the oven.

Just checked the GS today. I keep zest soap bars inside since I heard the mice don't like the smell. It has appeared to work for the 5 or so years. Today I found one of the bars (the one I put on my back floor mat) with chew marks and a ton of mouse crap around it . Really, now they eat soap?

I set 10 more snap traps around the garage, and bought some decon traps. Tomorrow I am throwing a fresh box of dryer sheets inside the GS. I don't know if they work but what do I have to lose?

Cleaned one mouse body out of a snap trap today also.

What keeps the mice from chewing through a car bag? I may have to invest in one of them.

    I hate mice!!!!!
