Does any one have a photo of the under side of a trunk lid with the holes for mounting the spoiler ? I have drilled the holes to 7/8" as per Georges website, but there is no way to get the backing plates in there?! I think I read somewhere that the GS's used a much bigger hole? I only want to drill holes once!!
I’m pretty sure the holes in the 72 X I’m working has bigger than 7/8” holes to get those plates in. I’ll try to remember to measure them tonight when I get home.

70 lids are different than 71/72, the X used the 71/72 style with the "boxed" area with the dimples on where to drill. I guess the lids used after the X's were built in 70 were the boxed style too, never paid much attention to be honest
The 68-72 trunk lids went like this, 68-early 70 were the same and then, mid 70-72 were the same. And this was across all the GM brands, not just Buicks. They were used in 68-72 Chevelles, 70-72 Monte Carlos, and 70-72 Skylarks. The GSX cars had large holes drilled into the bottom of the trunk lid so the braces could slide in....and the center point of the hole would have been where the dimples were. Early trunk lids have the inside bracing closer to the outside skin and have no dimples. If you drilled a 7/8" hole were the dimples were then you might be able to put a 7/8" hole saw (or plug) in the middle as a guide with the bigger hole saw around it. That would keep the hole centered. Duane
