Can’t believe No Buick guys have not chimed in that put 1970 Pontiac. Judge 12 bolt in their car and have not had this problem
Sorry,I thought you got the correct U-bolts. That particular yoke on your 12-bolt Chevy takes the BOP style 3R U-bolts. I can send some in the morning.
Brian I think I need that combination “U” joint also so it fits in yoke. The 8.5 is tinbit to big. Of course the driveshaft part would stay the same. Combination . Can you send me one of those too. I wanna get this on the road. Thanks
The 8.5 and the 12-bolt BOP/Canadian yoke take the same u-joint,so you are good there. There are a lot of different sized u-bolts for different yokes, depending on the u-joint size. I have the ones for THAT yoke.
This is the exact yoke that you have in your 12-bolt Chevy. This was used for ALL 68-69 Buick’s and Oldsmobiles built in Canada, and all Pontiacs that came with a 12-bolt Chevy. Basicly any BOP that was built with a 12-bolt Chevy rear. These are the correct U-bolts and nuts. They should also have lock washers under the nuts.
This break in will do NOTHING for the gears. Will not even heat up the gears. You must use the weight of the car to break in the gears. Short 5-10 min drive and 45 min -1 hour cool down do this about 4-5 times then go for longer drives with still some cool down progressively getting confidence in the parts....you will have plenty of time to hammer down. Drag race cars we just do a few 1/8 mile runs 3/4 throttle and cool downs for 45min to 1 hour between runs which at a track is about normal... It is your car and you can do what you feel works for you. Jim J D Race
