I’m going to try to contact original owner once I’m back from vacation. Car had a new turbo 350 at 66,000 miles, car has 91,000 currently.....maybe towing was the reason. There are a couple holes in trunk pan.
I could look that up but 70-72 I think are the same. A 69 is also the same except for the word "Buick" is on the buttons. A 68 will fit but it has Buick on the buttons and a white face. Use the decal to decode the donor car: http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/RadioLabelDecoding.htm
Talked to the original owner today. They did not tow anything....they ordered the car the way it is now. Interesting they traded in a 68 charger rt on the Buick!
Interesting that they went from a 440 magnum motor to the Buick's 350. I wonder if the fuel crunch and rising prices had anything to do with that? I know I traded my 1969 Super Bee in '72 for a smaller engine'd Ford sedan because of the fuel situation.
Not uncommon for a tranny back in the day to have to be rebuilt at 66000. Mine was done at about 80000 miles. Now have 143000 miles on rebuilt orig tranny case.My '72 GS 350, #s match, was originally flame orange + black vinyl top + sandlewood interior. Car was at one time, silver, then red. I had it repainted fire red, new black vinyl top and black interior. Install an Eaton posi which I did a number of years ago. I live in Windsor On. U have a well-optioned car, great car! Enjoy.
Very nice 1972 GS 350. My first GS was the same as yours, except, it had the factory GSX side striping, sport mirrors, GSX front and rear spoilers and N-25 through-bumper exhaust. Also, Flame Orange. I live in Squamish and go into Vancouver fairly often. We could meet at some time. This is what it looked like back when I owned it: Nando.
Thanks. My old GS is still alive and well. The current owner, Paul, lives out in the Fraser Valley. We keep in touch and we were both at a car show on June 10th. The car has been redone, cosmetically, but the engine I built in 1983 is still running strong - in fact, at the drags it runs low 13s in street trim, just as fast as when I had it. Check out the show thread: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/bopgmc-car-show-langley-canada-june-10-2018.334102/ Nando.
Here are a few scanned photos from my album when a bunch of us Buick guys headed to Seattle International Raceway for some fun drag racing action. This would have been the mid 80's. That's Alf Weibe's 1969 GS 400 Stage 1 flat-towing his 1970 GS 455 race car and my 1972 GS 350 (455-powered) at the tail end. Nando.
No, that trim wasn't exclusive to big-block cars, if that's what you meant by BB. It was an option, I believe. If you look at the upper peak of the rear corner glass and doors, there is a ss trim there, too. Nando.
My son is currently living & working in Vancouver. Drove mine a few times & loved it. If you ever need someone to keep the oil circulating in it I'm sure he would volunteer in a hurry HA!
