Thanks! It was funny - I parked and they were there with their father. The girl says, "Nice car!" To which I reply, "Thanks! Too bad you have ice cream or you could sit in it." Their eyes widen and they quickly hand the ice cream to Dad. Everyone should enjoy this car as much as I do. I mean, after all, it's merely a means of transportation. A rather expensive and desirable one but a means, nonetheless.
Soaked a hard to find OEM upper overflow hose (that I got from gsfred - of course) overnight in Simple Green and scrubbed 48 years worth of gunk off it with a toothbrush. The pictures don't do it justice. I highly recommend this process.
Fred also hooked me up with the often discarded (and overlooked) overflow hose clip that affixes to the radiator and secures the hose along the tank. A little Evaporust and POR 15 later and voila!
Obsession fulfilled! I’ve always liked original examples of these cars and even the most incremental pieces make a difference.
I hope someday I can get my diplomat car to this level. I think it’s time I need to start thinning my herd.
It bugs me that I neglected to paint that Harrison when I had it out of the car last year but you're right - it's all about the details. And OEM parts. Haha!
I don't know what's more fun: making the car as Day 1 correct as possible or chasing down the correct parts.
Two car shows in one day and 80 miles later - from the beach to a baseball field - the car ran like a sewing machine.
Headed to a great cruise later on, so it was only fitting that I make it "take your car to work" day.
I took advantage of today's great weather and took the car to work. Later on, I hit up a local block party/car show. Driving this car is an absolute pleasure.
