Hello, I am the second owner (my uncle was original owner) of a 1968 Buick Skylark GS Custom Convertible. 350-V8 The rear panel and trunk say GS but not front fender or grill. At car show this weekend a guy told me if that is original it was special order or he added it on. I know for a fact my uncle wouldn't have added anything to the car. Still have original paint, interior, seats , everything original. any one else out there have this model or input ?
If the 350 engine is original, it is a Skylark Custom, not a GS. They didn't make GS Convertibles with the 350 engine in 1968, you could only get a 400. You could not even special order one with a 350 engine.
It would either be a Skylark OR a GS. They were 2 separate models. All you need to do is post the first 5 digits of your VIN
I don't believe there was a "Skylark" convertible in 68, it would be a "Skylark Custom". http://www.buicks.net/years/68.shtml 1968 Buick Production Figures SPECIAL DELUXE SERIES Model 43327-Two-Door Coupe....................................21,988 Model 43369-Four-Door Sedan...................................16,571 Model 43435-Station Wagon(two seats)..........................10,916 SKYLARK SERIES Model 53537-Two-Door Sport Coupe..............................32,795 Model 53569-Four-Door Sedan...................................27,387 SKYLARK CUSTOM SERIES Model 44437-Two-Door Sport Coupe..............................44,143 Model 44469-Four-Door Hardtop.................................12,984 Model 444467-Convertible Coupe.................................8,188 Model 44469-Four-Door Sedan....................................8,066 GS SERIES Model 43437-Two-Door Sport Coupe...............................8,317 Model 44637-Two-Door Sport Coupe..............................10,743 Model 44667-Convertible Coupe..................................2,454
Now on CL. Definitely looks to be a Skylark Custom. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/1968-buick-skylark-custom/6622234006.html
