So Im assuming the initial excrement storm would be the issue

Oh, I am sure they will surface someday. No one except the good Lord knows exactly when that will be.

Not only the poo-tornado would be an issue, but a multitude of other contingencies. They will surface, of that I am sure of. Now, those that have made up cars of that certain model year better start getting their ducks in a row and their cars, either owned or sold in the past, in order. It could get ugly.

I have this weird feeling that some people may know a lot more than they are telling! o_O

My first thoughts also. But that's a good thing. And can understand the hints but not being able to tell all.

Paperwork definitely makes a 71, which happens to be my favorite year. I bought my Stage 1 when I was 17, I got the documentation on it at the same time. I wouldn't buy a significant 1971 without it. (read that to be $$ significant)

There are always reasons why stuff stays hidden away - the number one reason being that sometimes a person doesn't want or care about the attention it might bring for a multitude of reasons. Whomever saved it from the trash is entitled to keep it on a shelf, if it still exists. Just like I am free to keep all the junk I have saved and stored to do with as I please.

Some of the posts in this thread lead me to believe the documentation is out there and it may be known who has it. As the owner of a '71 Stage 1, I hope it surfaces during my lifetime but I'm not holding my breath.

Maybe someone who knows someone who knows the cousin of the person that has the info could suggest this unless $ is the issue (I.e. The info's owner wants to make $ with it but doesn't want to take the risk or endure the s-storm) in which case they could possibly "license" the info to someone willing to endure the s-storm and get a royalty on the reports generated.

I'd have to suspect that Wayne, while maybe not getting rich, has made a nice little sum off the info. he acquired/reports generated and he only has 1/2 of a MY.

BTW, Does anyone know if he has Flint only or GMAD as well for that period?.

The cost of that microfilm wasn't cheap

I will add that I hope Wayne does make a little money from the 70 stuff. Glad he saved it! I think it is hard to make money on the Buick stuff - less of us in the world that like it.

Agree - I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I've happily paid Wayne. Point was that there is $ to be made with them if that's the desire.

I do think that someone could make the money with the 71 stuff. I know that folks have alluded to us that it exists and I hope it does - I just think that it would have surfaced by now. 1971 is my favorite year - always has been.

I just hope someone isn't in the process of cleaning out Grandpa's attic and tossing boxes of old GM "junk" into the dumpster...

I hope it exists too, and that the information will be available. ‘71 is my favorite year too.

Hey, what are you doing with the ‘71 GS in your sig? I can stop by and take a look at it if you’re getting tired of it.

None of my 71s are for sale - I will start back up on the Stage 1 after I finish my Sportwagon project. Right now it is at my brother's shop - he is my body guy. I am trying to do it right this time as it has been with me so long I have to restore it a second time. I bought it in the 80s when I was in high school. Good to find another 71 guy.
