One of my driver remote cables for side to side appears to have broken, and before I take it apart, I want to ensure it’s compatible with other A-body sport mirrors, just in case I’ve got to replace it. I really don’t want to replace it with another 48 year old part that gets used all the time...
According to this, the 71-72 Cutlass is the same, except the gasket... http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/SportMirrors.htm
From where? Unless it's something completely new, they will not be correct and the angle of the mirror will be off. The current replacement gaskets are incorrect for our cars.
OPGI & the Parts Place. https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/buick-skylark-gs-regal-gn-parts.aspx?modelName=Buick+Skylark/GS/Regal/GN&modelID=7&year=1970 No idea if it's incorrect or not, however I DO have my originals on the car still. As I haven't seen anyone who actually has rebuilt the innards of a remote mirror, I'm leaning towards getting another reproduction set, and using the pieces I need.
Those are not correct from my understanding, although they will tell you they are. Look up the part number. TPP is using the same part for 1970 GTO's, which won't work properly. They will physically bolt up but the angle of the mirror will be wrong. TPP won't tell you that however....
Looks like I'd just re-use my originals then...Thanks! So, long story short is that you can use the Cutlass mirrors if needed. You need to have or acquire an original Buick sport mirror gasket for the fitment to be at the correct angle.
Co-peddler on ebay used to sell a reproduction gasket, as I got a set not long ago, but I can no longer find the listing
Thanks, Scott! Unfortunately, that username is now "invalid"...which menas they either got blocked, changed their name, or closed their account...damn.
Yeah. Co-peddler got BANNED. Something about refusing to change his statements, opinion, whatever. Even when repeatedly corrected by others.
