The very first real concert I went to was "The Edgar Winter Group" when they were on their "Frankenstein" tour. They put on a great show and came out for SEVEN encores!

Yep, "Hang On Sloopy" was probably the biggest hit for them, .... about 1965. I saw Rick Derringer at a club I used to play at here in Milwaukee called The Palms. It was about 1976-77 when he was on tour for his "Derriner" album. He and his band were phenomenal! One group of guys I used to jam with would cover "Beyond The Universe". I don't believe I could muster up those chops any more, ..... though my 16 year old son probably could. He had pretty much mastered the drums for "Hot For Teacher" at age 9 as well as plenty of others. Another group I was in covered "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo". Larry
Every Breath I Take --Gene Pitney (1961)-- This song was written by the husband and wife team of Gerry Goffin and Carole King and produced by Phil Spector, featuring his wall of sound.
He was something, in the Orbison class, very prolific musician. Liberty Valance, Town Without Pity, etc, etc! In one note you it was Pitney, great voice, not like todays Sh__!
I saw Gene Pitney live in concert in 1964. He was also a great songwriter. I recall he wrote He's a Rebel which was made famous by Phil Spector, Darlene Love and the Crystals.
When you mentioned the Shadows, Booby Vee popped into my feeble brain. Here's why. I remember BV and the Shadows coming to my home town in S. Dak. not too far from Fargo, ND around that time. My high school sweetheart were there. After we stopped in the country and all I can say is thank you Bobby Vee. Hey! I know what you're thinking! No home run but got to first base at least! Bobby split off sometime after that and did quite well.
I have that CD and put it on with Frankenstein cued up and volume way up when I want to piss off my wonderful wife. It's my job to do that! Also TTT.
