Several weeks ago I started a page on Facebook on this topic:

I enjoy two-tone cars for their rarity and the possibility of interesting color combos that vinyl tops may not have afforded.

However, I haven't found many Buicks that fit this style of trim. If you have a pic of a two-tone Buick muscle car (or at least a car with performance pretensions – a hopped-up Skylark is alright as long as it demonstrates two-tone paint), please post it here so I may post it on FB, or please join the group and post 'em yourself....thanks!

No need to stop at 2 tone; there were tri tone Buicks.

This is what happens when you don't want to repaint it white and the factory color as a complete top and bottom color doesn't work either. So paint the top to go with the interior.

What's funny about painted roofs to me is that they were a cheaper option than vinyl tops but required more labor (essentially costing GM more money). They had to finish the surface vs. covering it, and mask the body for the contrast color.

Not really up for debate in this thread, as no one agrees on a definition.

However, I did say in the original post "If you have a pic of a two-tone Buick muscle car (or at least a car with performance pretensions...)" so I reckon that should be enough. :D

So are those both factory colors?

Cuz the cars should look relatively authentic. I know gold and red go well together, but can't tell if that red is the proper red for '65.

I gotta ask, though: you didn't think monotone gold and red interior didn't work?

Nice . . . will be posting them piecemeal over the next few days. I'll do my best to attribute each of you owners but, really, it's all about the car, right? :p:D

The lower color is '65 Champagne Mist. I painted the car , intending to be all Champagne Mist. When I rolled it out of the paint booth the next day, I almost tossed my lunch. So the owner of the body shop that I rented the booth at suggested the red roof. The red is not a '65 Buick color, but it goes with the original red interior very well.
At least I think so. Anyways, it has been done for 27 years and I still like the combination.

It is a Glasstek. Never measured, but I'm guessing a 4" cowl. It was on the car when I bought it as a wounded mess.
