I bought a '79 Regal a few weeks ago for my 14 year old son that we are going to fix up for his first car. I am looking for a reasonably priced front bumper {78-79} in good condition and a rust free trunk lid (78-80), or at least one that is not rusted on the drivers side rear corner that I can use as a patch panel. Let me know what you have and a price. If it's within about 100 miles of Northeastern, Md I can pick it up. Any further and it will need to be shipped. Thanks, Ken
Would try one of the "G" body specialists if I were you. Believe www.gbodyparts.com is reproducing some of this stuff now. There were a few in the El Paso yards a few years ago. The local yard, which is not a U pull, has three or four 78 - 83 Cutlasses, but no Regals, other than a 82 four door and a loose rear bumper. I advertised parts here, from the El Paso U Pulls, but nothing sold. All the cars there were crushed within six months. Another possibility for you might be www.maliburacing.com. Site has been slowly dying on the vine, but it is an A/G site, meaning 78 - 88 one. Another is "Dixie" ? depot, primarily 83-88 Monte Carlo SS, but they probably do other G bodies. All of these vendors are in the South East.
Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. So far the only reproduction body parts for the 78-79's I've found are the bumper fillers, and I need a set of the ones for the rear too. I've found a few trunk lids but was getting crazy quotes for shipping. Ken
Ask them for a Greyhound quote. They (greyhound) should handle a trunk lid from one of those cars. If the seller is willing to wrap it correctly. Problem is, most buyers expect this stuff (wrapping, packaging) for free.
there is a 1978 in a local yard but will have to check condition of parts. http://row52.com/Vehicle/Index/RNDHnTjYr2BIstya3M3uOW29d
Several 78-80 Regals in local yard; relatively cheap prices. If you happen to be passing through the NC/SC border on I 95, It would be worth your trouble. Just about guarantee shipping would be way more than cost... So come and get 'em! Located just outside McColl, SC., on New Bridge Road, near Mcgurt Road (Google it, and you can see it from the satellite picture!)
Thanks for the leads guys. I will look into them. I wish they were closer. I'll have to start checking the local yards when I get time this summer and see if any of them around here still have anything that old. In the mean time, if you have any 78-80 Regal parts for sale let me know. Ken
Some of those era Regals (78-80) may? have had an aluminum trunk lid and or hood. Know they (GM) did that on a few Monte Carlos.
That is correct. I've found a few aluminum trunk lids but they were too far away plus I don't want to pay as much for a trunk lid/shipping as I did for the whole car! I can probably fix the trunk lid if I have to but I would just prefer to replace it and for some reason the front bumper rusted out. The rest of the car is solid with no rust underneeth at all. Hopfully, I can find a trunk lid this summer because I want to paint the car before fall. Ken
Ken, you could try contacting Dennis at Kirban Performance. He hits a lot of junkyards in the area (eastern Pa), maybe he knows of some cars. https://www.kirbanperformance.com/
