Going for a freshen up. Had fuel wash issues at low rpm. Going from 12:1 comp up to 13.5:1. Callies Ultra I beam rods diamond piston with a comp height of 1.18".
Might get closer to my original goal of 900hp
    Cheers

Not sure if I had posted these or not, so I thought I would add some new material anyway.
These are the pistons we took out

And the new Callies Rods. These are BBC rods. Increased from 7" to 7.1" long

I have also removed the chopping board polyethylene tunnel ram spacer and put a new top on the plenum with 2 x 2" phenolic spacers under the carbs

Short block is back together, heads are assembled, just waiting for a new windage screen for my oil pan.

Few issues mainly fuel wash from not enough compression. Was 12:1 now we will have 13.5:1. Fuel wash isn't an issue at WOT just cruising around town part throttle kills it

    Getting close.
Just have to drop off the oil pan (once I get a new windage screen fitted), distributor, manifold, carbs and headers. Then Dyno time!!!!!

Where or who did you get that intake splash shield?and where is it fastened?

    Hi George
It came from TA with the shortblock. It's only a flat sheet of aluminium 1/8" thick.
There are small casting bosses in the ribs that need to be drilled and tapped to suit

    Quick update.
Since changing to a 5400rpm stall, this engine is waking up nicely. I have taken the diff head out and getting 4.11:1 gears installed. This will get the blood pumping again.
Here are a couple of clips of us racing on a non prepped goat track 1/8' mile. wouldnt even hook up so I put on a smoke show for the crowd. A fellow hotrodder with 300hp less bet me to first place

It was quite scary in the breaking area even at 107mph!!!!

So, I'm looking for a board member that makes the aluminum PS pulleys. and this thread pops into my life.
That has to be one of the most Beautiful pieces of work I've ever seen. Was that a 1" polyurethane slab for a carb spacer ?
triple nickles is just a fantasy for me, but wow was that done well. I like an engine that is also a work of art.
That's one bad-ass work of art.

Thanks for the kind words Joe. The spacer was made of polyethylene as an adaptor and also a heat transfer shield. We have since done away with it as it was starting to leak.
    Cheers
