You can't bomb and kill an ideology, only people.

How so? I simply ssid religion is man made? true faith is not religion! it is a walk! a life lived!
Abraham /Isaac /Jacob weren't religious? they walked their faith through life! and man interprates that as their religion?
But it was their faith that they lived not some religion invented by other men!
Religion is mans effort to try and please god on their conditions?
Faith is acceptance of Gods conditions regardless!
The bottom line for me? these people are terribly mislead and are extremely dangerous to our way of life? and need to back down or face the consequences of a civlized society's righteous judgement ?
    Whatever form that may take?

Exactly, man made! Man interprets scripture to rationalize their misdeeds. And yes, they are terribly misled and are extremely dangerous.

That 30% number is just garbage. Certainly can't be applied so easily. In pockets it might be near 100%... Others near 0.

I think I articulated my solution back in post #18. At least one where it won't cost any more American lives in those piece of crap countries.

Moving forward, We as a country should have a better protected boarder. also the refugee crisis/relocation program should be halted immediately. these people need to be vetted. everyone of them. forget about gun free zones, expand CC permits, in fact encourage CC.
You want free. how about free hand gun training for every citizen. France is a gun free zone. simple math here

looking back, I agree with Jim, we never should have pulled out of Iraq. that was political stupidity.
we left Iraq, Isis moved in, with there flags on our tanks.
there were called the JV team.
this could have been avoided way back then.
prepare yourself for the good old saying.
And I quote "We need to take steps forward, to insure this never happens again"
I have heard this after every single disaster. leading from behind is called following.

    - And so it starts. Paris is first, and Merkel just let over 100,000 of them into Germany ostensibly on "humanitarian" grounds. Most of them were young men of military age. Where this is going to end requires human intervention and a lot of it, divine intervention or arguing about semantics isn't going to work. Time to beat the plowshares into swords again and do away with that filth.

No more people- no more ideology. Bomb them back into the stone age. Theyre half way there already. Then have Trump start building strip malls and casinos.

An interesting perspective from someone who lived thru 9-11 up close.

It can be argued that our lack of intervention in the Middle East, and our "hands off" approach to foreign policy thru the 90's, created the conditions that allowed that attack to be planned, funded, and executed.

If it were only that easy, I would agree, but ignoring the Islamic Fundamentalists is simply not an option anymore. They won't go away.

Consider out engagement in the region thru the better part of the 2000's, and the lack of successful attacks on US Homeland targets in that time. We must engage and thwart these terrorists on their own ground, long before they get close to our shores.

I was just considering that Bin Laden's main complaint was that we were occupying their lands. If we just got out, I think they would just increasingly kill each other, they've been doing that centuries. That would leave the Israeli-Palestinian problem and if that could be solved, that would eliminate the remaining wind in their sails. All I know is that we continue to wage these wars over there and we don't pay for them, so it just keeps increasing our national debt.

Like I said before, even if we go back there and militarily defeat them, they will run back to where they came from, or melt back into the population. Then we will have to occupy those countries and they will still wage a guerrilla war against us and bankrupt us in the process. Look what happened in Iraq. We gave them a government and free elections, and they threw it all away. When will we learn Jim? Let's try something different. There has to be a better way.

A valid point, well argued Larry, but you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Isolationism, while tempting, and easy to make good sense from, won't work.

Not in 1939, and not now..

Sooner or later, they get done killing each other, and then come for us, but with tremendous advantage, from us "leaving them alone" for a decade or two.

Their hatred for Americans is ideological, based on a literal interpretation of the Koran, not reactionary... we don't have to "do something" to them, to inspire attacks.

Bin Laden's reasoning that we "desecration of their holy land" in Saudi Arabia was simply a rallying point for those who did not share his devout adherence to sharia Law.

And we are talking about a region that is rich with oil, so no way we should be footing the bill for this.. the actions of our Lilly-livered politicians, who did not want to be accused of a "war for oil" saddled us with the costs. I have no problem with us helping ourselves to their natural resources, since we are providing the security for the majority of the people, who just want to live in peace.

And they were in no way, shape or form, ready for self-government. Politicians in this country, working in what they thought were there best interests, pushed that time table, so it's no wonder it failed. 2 years after our invasion, they were simply not ready.

Consider the occupation of Japan after WW2. It began in August of 1945.

Not until the treaty of San Francisco in August of 1952, were the Japanese allowed to be self governed. And more importantly, in that time, the country was rebuilt, and the majority of the population embraced American style democratic principals. The "conditions on the ground" as the commanders say, were favorable for self government.

Exactly the opposite of what they said about Iraq.

But no one was listening in Washington.

I just want to try something different. It doesn't really matter to me. I'm not going there to fight. I don't have any family that will have to do the fighting over there. If you had a son, would you want him over there? I wouldn't. Weren't we supposed to use Iraqi oil to offset the cost of the war. What ever happened with that? Why can't we make the Saudis and Kuwait finance the war? They owe us big time anyway for protecting them all these years. They have a lot to lose.

I'm afraid we are going back to war there. We will have no problem winning, that is for sure. Then what? It won't be like Japan. The Japanese were a uniform population. The middle east is Shia, Sunnis, Kurds, and other factions, and they all hate each other.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

"Military aged young men fleeing".......... Just exactly under whose rule would we be under had everyone run when Paul Revere took his famous ride and warned of the impending danger? Sure there would be casualties, but all those able to fight, flee rather than fight to keep their country. And look at the other countries where we are 'training' troops' to take care of their own. How many, have you heard about, that fail to volunteer or cut and run when under fire? You can't help people, or and entire country, when they aren't willing to make sacrifices to help themselves.
