Does anyone know of a 1970 GS 455 4 speed registry? if not, does anyone in there best guess know how many are left? (seen at the Buick Nationals???) I am told that there was only 510 built in 70.

    Thanks,
    Ron

think about how many were- raced to death, wrecked, rotted out, or just used up due to attrition. Now add 45 years to the mix. If we're making wild #$% guesses, I would guess that 10-15% survive today. And out of those that did survive, how many are nice cars?

No one really knows. There are services out there that take statistical data from DMV's across the country, but that doesn't account for all the cars that aren't registered that are sitting apart in someone's garage or sitting in a field

You are right Jason, the survival rate of these cars will be low due to being Big Block 4 speed cars.
Cars like this, were typically beat to death, wrecked and destroyed why, because they are Big Block 4 speed cars:)

I second that! I Wouldn't mind starting a registry. We may only have about 50-100 455 GS 4 speed cars left hopefully more! Do we have many more takers out there? Please use this thread to respond. I am not going to say I will handle this but I will do some research on the subject. Please keep in mind I am doing this on my spare time. I work 12-16 hours a day and have three little girls which take most of my time. I think this would be a good Idea to have, so all can have good count on the cars that are left and it could bring the value up on them with some solid numbers at auction or for sale. Please leave your feed back, remember I am looking into this on my spare time only which is not much but I will do my best!:idea2:

    Thanks
    Ron

One here - factory ordered to tow a dude's boat and haul his fam. But hey, does that 510 include the GSX cars?

My GS 455 Conv. was a factory 3-speed manual, now a 4-speed. Does that count?

    Hi Bad Brad,
The 510 numbers is only for 1970 GS 455 4 speed cars. It doesn't include GSX, Stage 1's or GS 350's which are great cars also. We are only tracking factory installed 1970 GS 455 4 Speeds. If someone wants to tract the others feel free and then we can have a complete total a cross the whole GS line for 1970.

Moving forward gentlemen, I am looking for your name, V8 or standard e-mail , if you have Documentation for your for your 70 GS 455 4 speed. If you don't feel comfortable leaving on a post please PM me.

    Thank You!
    Ron

    WE HAVE 6!

    Brad

The 510 # is regular GS 455 4 speed hardtop built in 1970.

This 510 # does not include the 81 Non Stage 455 4 speed GSX cars built out of the 678 GSX's built in 1970.

Would you include those cars that were converted from automatic to 4 speed? The count would probably be inaccurate as it couldn't be verified. As I understand it, Sloan reports didn't cover the entire '70 production run.

    Hi Joe,
We are looking for factory 70 GS 455 4 speeds. The doc's we are looking for are Sloan, GS Historic Society, Built Sheet or a Original Window Sticker. If there are anymore ways to document them that I am not familiar with please let me know!:TU:

    Thanks,
    Ron

How about getting owners of 70 GS 455 4 speed cars to list the following:

    Factory Color combo
Cowl build date stamped into firewall body tag
    Factory option load
    Pic of car

    Rich,
That is not a bad idea. The goal is to form a list of all the owners, with docs and e-mail so in the future we can expand on the options and pictures. We are just getting started in this process. I have a spread sheet started and I have only six names with cars so far. When I receive about 25 to 50 cars. I was going to maybe look into starting a web site for 70 GS 455 4 speed cars, depending on the cost. I would have a sign up form where they can list all there information on there cars, but I am not going to move forward if I don't have the car numbers I am looking for. Thank You for you interest in this endeavor. Please say in touch. I will update as soon I receive more cars. Any question anyone can PM me. I will get back to you asap.:TU: As of this post we have six cars!

    Thank You
    Ron
