5800 RPM's is where ALL "Nails" fall off because of the lack of air. It just runs out of AIR!!!!!

Tom, what do you think of the air fuel ratio it was 13.4 at peak tq and was in the 13s from 3200 rpms to 4500 rpms. way too lean or a little lean ? . then low 12s after 5000 rpms.

They say "Lean is mean" Joe. 13.4 is a little lean. What carbs. are you using??? WOT should be in the area of 12.4-12.8. Of course many other factors come into play like idle air bleeds etc. Of course it will usually make the most HP & torque with a slightly lean mix but at the cost of possible detonation. I'd of course like to error on the rich side rather than lean.
    Just my thoughts.

I agree with Tom,,,, a carb/carbs set up will,, will,,, lean out at higher rpm.... so you got to strike a kind of ''middle of the road approach''...... better to go slightly rich on the bottom side.....and to be just right on the top side.....:Brow:

But,,, and everybody has one,,, running on the dyno is going to be different from running on the strip with all of its variables....

two 600 edelbrocks rear jets are 89. I will to 92 jets. doc after 4500 rpms it went 12.9 then after 5000 rpms was low 12s

Way to go Joe. Glad your picking up a few more hp. When andy gets the graph up it should be cool to see.

going to peak engine horsepower it made 430.75, 5hp over the last time of 425 hp. to make more hp I need a bigger cam. just don't want to do it, runs so nice and smooth for the street. you never know I might get the bug, lol

Thats a good street cam you are running. 230/236 is not to big for 446 cubes. Fast ramp seems to work good and holds on to the power for the little air its getting. I think You are right, if you want more hp you need a little bigger cam. The 2x4 must of helped because it just needs more air for them cubes. I had a factory stock 401 and ran a 650 and 750 with the eelco and the nh 400 cam and it likeed that. Bigger cubes would to i think

thanks a lot. engine tq comes out to 532 tq, same as the single 4, had 550 peak tq on a different run with shorter tires, but have better average numbers for hp and tq with all the changes. Bob, 230-235 you gave me a extra * on the exhaust lol. solid liffters on a tight 109 LSA seems to like it.

Wow Joe,are those rear wheel numbers you posted? Either way that is some impressive torque!

I wish, no there engine numbers. I used I think a conservative 18% power loss. rear wheel is 353 hp and 436 tq, this a mild street motor with a nice idle and 3.23 gears. and a little 1.5 inch exhaust valve. lol

I gotta say i didnt expect tq to stay up with 2x4. Eelco is a good intake. When you told me 2 speed and 323 gears and the car will go side ways from a 40 mph punch i was impressed. With a nice idle and reliable. Great street car

Hi Joe. Just seen the graph. You have to love that the TQ doesn't really fall off till the peak HP. Really looks like a strong street car. :TU:
