Hey Guys, Dont know much about Blown 455 but am thinking about it, thought I would ask here. Does anyone make turn key blowers set up for a BBB? I have a low compression 455 setting on the shelf that I thought would be fun to throw a little boost to for a fun project. My only experience close to this would be my years of owning Grand Nationals... So I do understand detonation and low timing importance on pressurized motors. What is a good Blower cam? Any blowers I should look for on the used market that I can use on a BBB by just sourcing the pulleys, mounts, etc? Im not looking for 750 hp or anything crazy. If I could squeeze 550 out of it I would be happy. Thanks, Dennis
Awful expensive approach for 550hp, but TA sells complete ATI centrifugal kits as does The SuperCharger Store, BDS sells a Roots kit as does Dyers and one other outfit I believe, but turbo is cheaper if you have metal fab skills, or a remote mount setup is super simple as well
Dennis, I do not know if anyone is making anything for a street Buick anymore. I know that Finishline will make up something custom. I did my own design for a D-1 and would give you any info that I have. All you need to make brackets is some 1/2 inch aluminum plate and 1 inch aluminum tube .25 wall.

Hello, I went to the dyno yesterday. My combo: 72 350ci engine, stock block, TA performance intake, QFT SS-650-BAN carb, Superiorvelocity carb hat, headers + 2.5 Flowmaster exhaust, MSD 6AL ignition. Result : 350HP DIN(at the crank) at 4500 RPM with 630Nm=464 lb ft at 2200 rpm But big issue, the guy put the gearbox in Reverse at 3000rpm.....:ball: I plan to buy a BOP 2004R but I see that a common one only handle 350HP, it's not enough as I plan to upgrade the block with reworked heads, special cam and Poston 1.6 rockers. Anyone knows about a reputable company that sell improved 2004R ? David

The turbo Buick group has been working with these transmissions for a long time and really know more than we do here.
Call Chris at CK, http://www.ckperformance.com/ he did me a good job for my turbo car and was very helpful after the fact. Not many can build these right, I have a ton of not so good stories with local builders. Go with someone that has done them a bunch and pay attention to TV cable adjustment and governor shift points. 1st gear is very low and most turbo buick guys let the governor shift it, that is why governor weights are so critical.. Here is a question. I have a 4.48 inch pulley on my Procharger, at the end of adjustment and want to change to a four-inch (to increase boost), How much of a shorter belt will I need to install? Curent belt is 68 inches long. I think for every point change you, change the boost one pound in my d1-sc.
I would think that it is 1/2 the difference in circumference. If I did the calculations correctly should be about 3.2 inches less. Edit: did formula for area... do not do math with beer in hand :spank: I get .75 inches difference after sobering up
The difference in the circumference is 1.5" so 1/2 of 1.5" is .75" The outside of the pulley also moves 1/4" closer to the other pulley making both side of the belt that much closer so another 1/2" needs to be taken out for a total of 1.25" shorter. That will be a 12% increase in compressor speed. New boost will be (14.7 + present boost)x.12 + present boost
Mike, what is the diameter of your drive pulley? I am going from a 4" to a 3.25 inch on the driven (blower) pulley. That will give me about 58,000 rpm impeller @ 6000 rpm on the motor. Your D1SC is rated at 62,000 rpm impeller speed.
Crank pulley is 6 1/4 inches. Current blower pulley is 4.380-inch. Want to speed the blower up with a 4-inch. Currentlly have about eight pounds of boost. Want to be closer to 10 pounds.
4.38/4 = 1.095 (14.7 + 8) x 1.095 = 24.85 psi absolute pressure 24.85 - 14.7 = 10.15 psi gauge Looks Good
According to my calculations that will put your impeller speed at about 39000 rpm"s. About 63% of blower capacity.
