I have a complete rupture of my subscapularis and dislocated bicep.

If your not a doctor, and I'm sure not, I fell on my shoulder, and the front tendon and muscle the hold the front of the shoulder is completely severed, and my bicep tendon is dislocated. Surgery is required, and 6 months to a year of rehab to get motion and strength back. I scheduled surgery for mid April.

Not worried about it, surgery should take about an hour, outpatient. Doc says I need to forget working on the Buicks for many months. I will be able to work and travel, and it will be able to continue my Quadrajet business after a couple of weeks off. I need to make sure I don't rush it and let myself heal up. That's the hard part.

Thanks all for reading. I really appreciate it.

Good luck and heal quick. I have delayed surgery for a torn labrum in my shoulder, 6 weeks down time is hard to accept.

Best luck Mark. I have had both shoulders operated on and my left bicep now has only one connection, too badly torn and location of tear, just had to cut it loose. Guess it is a monocep

Steve, I fell in January, and have been in therapy and still hurt to move my arm, so finally got MRI done and found out how bad it was messed up. After 3 months already of this, I'm ready to get it fixed.

    Thanks everybody. always appreciated.

Hope for a speedy recovery Mark.

My step dad did something similar a year or so ago. His surgery was short like yours should be. It was sure difficult trying to keep him from using that arm. He is a carpenter by trade, so he kinda needs both arms. It was tough for him, but he did well and followed the doctors instructions. His arm is good now as far as I know. He got his full range of motion back and doesn't have any pain anymore. So I would call it a success.

Man, I'm sorry to hear this! I'm just now getting over a tear in my right shoulder's rotator cuff, thankfully I didn't need surgery - just PT. Now I know where the PT guys get their reputation as sadists, there were a couple of times that I'd have told them whatever they wanted to know . All that to say that I sympathize with you HUGELY!

I'll definitely be praying for you and your family! Hope everything goes well, please keep us posted. :beer

Sorry to hear. Best wishes for a fast and complete recovery.

The procedure is pretty straightforward -- I have two friends that ruptured their bicep tendon and both are 100% now. My brother-in-law tore his shoulder tendon and he too is back to normal now.

Just be patient, don't push too hard too fast and make sure to do your rehab to regain strength and range of motion.

BTW I understand your pain and frustration -- I am right now recovering from tearing my hamstring tendon off of my sitbone so I know how much it sucks to not be able to do pursue your hobby.
