Never had an issue with the points; but then again, my car hasn't got any real modifications to it. That said though, if I could find a stock GM HEI unit that would just bolt in to my 401 I would consider using it, those things are bullet-proof from a reliability standpoint.

i got it used off here or ebay one for that the cap was cracked but it was never installed new cap is 25 dollars it was a deal i couldnt pass up. its the billet msd or msd type also. so basically it was new but opened i guess is how i would word it.
You have peaked my curiosity. What's up with MSD? I have used it in my truck for years (the original 425 Nailhead distributor was trash). I have had no problems whatsoever.
