My son left today with three others driving to Juneau Alaska. They are spending the summer working and with Campus Crusades for Christ. It will be the experience of the lifetime. I'm so proud of him.. what a great kid... gets that part from his mother...
Experience they will remember for life, I'm sure. Our 15 year old goes to Philadelphia for 10 days in July to work in soup kitchens etc.. Going to be quite the eye opener for a farm boy who lives in a Bible belt.
Congratulation on your sons desire to serve. He will come back feeling like he got more than he was able to give. What an awesome step for a man so young. You should be very proud. We have encouraged our children to do something special when they were in school... It really changes their lives and prepares them to be special people. I know the things my daughter did have made her an AMAZING teacher. They now know how to serve the rest of their lives.
That's awesome John; I made similar (but shorter) trips to Mexico when I was younger. I've been to Alaska a few times on AF temp duty trips from McConnell and may go again in a few weeks. He's gonna have a great time doing that!
Greetings Daryl; Long time.. how are you doing? I keep thinking I'm going to see your car around Wichita but haven't seen you since Automobilia a few years back. Hope things are going well. Thank you for the kind words.
Doing allright, had to deploy overseas last summer and missed the show(s) around town. Since then, my transmission gave up, so I'm in the process of upgrading to a rebuilt 200-4R while I have time between trips. Then I have to tackle my low oil pressure issue.. never ends! I just hope it's ready for this year's Automobilia show. DD
Well the boys made it, 6 days and a lot of gas... did I mention they went in a Hummer H3. It sounds like they had a great trip, went up in the Yukon as they dropped into Skagway. Makes you want to be young, 3 boys Hummer H3, driving to Alaska, and camping along the way. Now they start their summer project and work. I'm very proud of my kids. John
