They'll consider making all this stuff for the nailheads..........but they won't consider making a run of their old ribbed valve covers for the 400-430-455! :af:

Anyway, I voted heads since most of you seem to be leaning that way. :TU:

I voted Heads as well, I wonder how long before the start producing, and if they will be as cheap as chevy ones :)

Well, SBC heads are $1100 from Summit. The new 409 heads are $2000, and the Ford 429-460 Victor Jr heads are $2700. I'd say we are looking at $2000 to $2700 depending on how difficult they are to manufacture.

With a full rebuild on a pair of iron heads at $900 from Gessler....and that's without valve seat inserts, an extra $1500 for some good alum heads isn't a stretch for someone building a fresh Nail.

A point was brought up about what kind of head they would make...I'm thinking an aluminum clone of the stock heads are much more likely than a fresh design that would cost Edelbrock a lot of R&D time and $$ for a few extra hp.

P.S. someone on the Yahoo board said he knows who has the old Max B aluminum heads!:Brow:

    I LOVE HEAD(s) :TU:

I sure hope if they do the heads, they keep the stock rocker design.. I like my Telesco Rockers:beers2:

add a bit more... hopefully for the e-brock guys to see...

They will have to make all new patterns for the castings anyway.. it would be silly for them to not take, say, a street-ported (or max ported) head as an example to base their design on... of course, one for max wet-flow performance would be best..I don't know if anyone has done any wet-flow research on the nail'..

with Tom's and TA's roller rockers.. frankly, going to chevy rollers would turn me off to the edelbrock heads.

Oh, and BTY... Ford 2.3 litre valves are the EXACT same length as the Nail's, they're 11/32" stems and can be had in performance designs (i.e. undercut, etc.) and materials.. Only issue is valve lock grooves need to be cut higher up on the stem by a competent machinist.

News flash! This just in from the Yahoo Nailhead group...and it's
    BIG!!
This was posted by Russ Martin, the west coast Nailhead Guru:

    >>>>The guy that is working on heads for Edelbrock contacted me last week, he asked what I thought about the heads he was working on. He is designing heads that are same on the outside as stock and also highly modified ones for about 3 years. The highly modified ones used special headers with raised exhaust ports that resemble a Stage 2 and a special intake manifold and larger valves. The stock valve covers would fit but set higher(about 3/4") up so the heads would a lot like 215-300 heads. These flow well enough to make 550 HP. The stock looking heads would allow all the stock manifolds and brackets to work with a more modest HP increase. I feel these heads would be the most sell-able but it would be nice to produce both packages but the stock lookers would sell 10 to 1. What do you think?? Russ<<<<

Wow...this could be better than we hoped for! :beers2:
Now I wonder if the rest of the engine can support 550 hp.

There is a link to the poll from edelbrock.com I would think they set it up or they would not authorize a link from their website.

i stabbed the 1-4bbl option just to give it some balance . i'm a realist i guess . but the voting %'s looked funny - 20%+ for other options ? jeez are the 409 guys mad now ? but you know it'll be a "performer" dual plane . del

Good thing that you pluralized that.

I voted for heads as well, not that the singular form isn't a bad thing, as in you know maybe one aluminum head and one cast iron one. :bla: :bla:

I wonder what the under-hood clearance would be in a '63-'65 Rivi with the "highly modified" heads with their special intake and all..

With the valve covers on the modd'd heads 3/4" higher, I wonder what else would be 3/4" higher or more :Do No:
